MKOMBOZI WOMEN'S GROUP
ABOUT US
OVERVIEW
Initiated by ten women in 2008, Mkombozi is now 26 women-strong.
Created without the assistance of a commercial bank, Mkombozi started by making small loans to members at low interest rates. The loans were promptly repaid and sometimes, earlier than their due date.
The experience of succeeding at business empowered the members. And now, this cooperative is more than
a micro-loan source.
It’s a place to discuss issues related to economic and social development. Weekly meetings provide a forum to create new business ideas and also explore ways to fight poverty in the area.
Mkombozi means redemption in Swahili.
Proudly, the women of Mkombozi developed this vision:
To bring economic and social independence to the women of the Karanga region of Moshi, Tanzania.
